Better Off Dread

For years and years now I've just loved, loved, loved the look of dreadlocks. I know, I know, they're not everyone's cup of tea. It's gotta be the hippie girl in me that's just drawn to a head full of wild and crazy dreadies. Here's just a few that make me feel pretty knotty (sorry, couldn't help myself).

My shop is officially open for business!

Hey guys! I'm super stoked to announce the official opening of my etsy shop- Aarikatures. It's still just a baby, so I'm sure it could use some tweaking. Any advice from you fellow shop owners  is more than welcome! Here's just a couple of commisions I've done in the past.

A Very Groovy Valentine's Day

It's now officially a Valentine's Day tradition to do fun photo shoots with my girls. I pick a theme, gather things from around the apartment, and set up a little photo shoot area. We get all dressed up and then have a fun time taking tons of pictures. Layla and Tesla love having their picture taken, they're such little models! Tesla even insists on getting up after every single picture and coming over to the camera to see the picture on the screen. 

Last  year, we did a vintage pink and red photo shoot, with teacups, teddy bears, roses, and ruffly dresses. This year, I wanted to do something a little different, something a little unexpected. We ended up doing a 1960's bohemian theme. We put on flowy hippie dresses, hung some vintage sheets, set up some groovy decor, turned on some Grateful Dead and had so much fun! I couldn't be happier with how adorable these turned out- I have no idea how I'm going to top it next year!

I'm dying for spring. It's pretty frigid around these parts so I've been wearing a lot of skirts and dresses with layers and layers of leggings, sweaters, socks, jackets, and so on. I picked this dress up at Goodwill last week and I really couldn't wait to wear it. It's going to be so perfect for the hot summer days! As much as I detest being sweaty, I'm actually really stoked for summer weather just to be able to wear this dress without the umpteen layers with it!

I wish I'd gotten a close-up of my boots- they're my favorite. A couple years ago, everyone was wearing these grungey vintage boots from Urban Outfitters and I wanted a pair so, so bad. However, I really couldn't bring myself to pay what UO was asking for them. I must have done something to please the thrift gods because I found these babies at Goodwill- and they're legit vintage. They were even just one size too big for me, so they're perfect for wearing with thick socks.
